How DO an elephant and a conservation artist collaborate to create these paintings?

 

KOA BACKGROUND-croppedDo YOU see a Koa tree in the painting done by Rama, the Elephant?  Calley did.  There is a lovely story to be told about how this unique painting came to be.  Truth is, after Rama finished painting, Calley added very little paint to the canvas.  Click on the photos to visit the page on our website and see how a needle-sharpened DENTAL PICK played in the finished product you see below.

 

Here, in a rare view of the finished painting, as it lay for framing and dressing in the studio, you can clearly see how the tree is etched into the original Rama paint.
